Family Matters Training 2022

Family Matters Model Program Facilitator Training will be held online on February 24th & continued on March 3rd from 1 - 5 PM. Both sessions are required in order to become certified in this program and to be eligible for any post training opportunities.

  • Free CE Hours are offered for MFT, LCSW, & CCAPP

  • Opportunity to earn $200 after training completion and implementation.

Family Matters Training is held via Zoom Meeting & will be conducted through 2 ( 4 Hour ) sessions.

During our training you will learn how to be a facilitator for Family Matters. This program is a 4 session "send-home" program for families with teens. When you lead this program, families will learn healthy family communication, set family rules for alcohol use, how to enhance parental supervision, and how teens can resist peer and media influence. This program will not require you to have in-person meetings. Facilitators of this program call families weekly to check in, motivate families and record outcomes.

  • Engage with families with social distancing (online or over phone)

  • Training includes detailed outreach, engagement, and retention tips

  • Extremely effective outcomes, even with volunteer educators

  • Can incorporate into existing programs or use as a stand-alone program

  • Can be facilitated by staff, volunteers or interns

All start-up materials for this program are included as part of this training. (curriculum, forms, marketing materials, booklets for families etc.)

BOOKLET 2 - HELPING FAMILIES MATTER TO TEENS

  • Family characteristics that positively influence teens: supervision, support, communication skills, attachment, time spent together, educational achievement, conflict reduction, and how well adolescence is understood.

BOOKLET 3 - ALCOHOL RULES ARE FAMILY MATTERS

  • Variables originating in the family that predict adolescent drug use.

BOOKLET 4 - NON-FAMILY INFLUENCES THAT MATTER

  • Variables outside the family that influence teen alcohol use

  • Five key qualities of character

  • Understanding parents

  • Your brain on adolescence

  • The power of choice

  • School success

  • Challenges: drugs and violence


PROGRAM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must agree to implement the program in Sacramento County at least once.

  • Submit demographic and evaluation data to Omni Youth Programs

  • Must have at least 5 families complete the program for $200 Gift Card
